Every new .NET release comes with the same practical question: which of the many new features are actually worth digging into for our day-to-day work? It’s a question I ask myself every November, and once again I’ll be trying to answer it out loud, in front of an audience.

On November 18th I’ll be speaking at the .NET Conference Italia 2026 in Milan. My session, titled “.NET 11: don’t call it just an upgrade” (the original Italian title is “non chiamatelo un semplice upgrade”), opens the day right after the welcome. We’ll go through the main new features of .NET 11, from the runtime to the language and the platform, and look at how they affect the way we build modern applications.

This is becoming something of a tradition. In past years, I covered C# 12 and C# 13 at this same conference, and last year I talked about MCP servers. Preparing a “what’s new” session is a great excuse to go through the release notes properly rather than skimming them, and there’s no better way to consolidate what you’ve learned than explaining it to a room full of people who do this for a living.

The conference takes place at Lodestar, in Via Fabio Filzi. Attendance is free; you just need to register. If you work with .NET, it’s a good chance to catch up on where the platform is going and to compare notes with fellow developers. If you’re there, come and say hi!
